If you want to get your photography published in magazines or books you will have to submit it to editors or publishers first. Most magazines and books have submission guidelines you can obtain so you know exactly what they want from your submission. However, each set of submission guidelines is different, so you need to get them for each magazine or book publisher you want to submit your photos to.

Obtain a copy of the submission guidelines for photography from the magazine or book publisher you are going to submit to. Follow the guidelines exactly to increase your chance of acceptance.
2Buy a few copies of the magazine you want to submit to and read them well. Get a good feel for the type of photography that they publish on a regular basis.
3Write the photography editor of the magazine or book a cover letter. Include your contact information, your photography credits and any other information relevant to your photography. Be sure to make the letter no longer than about two to three paragraphs.
4Include a contact sheet. This is one sheet of thumb-sized photos to show the editors or publishers your work. Include only your best photos on the contact sheet.
5Include two to three large 8- by 10-inch prints of your best photos. Be sure the focus is sharp and the exposure is at its best before you submit. Write your contact information on the back of the photos as well.
6Place the cover letter, contact sheet and full-sized photos and a self-addressed stamped envelope, large enough for the return of your photos, in a large, stiff 8- by 10-inch envelope. Write your name and address and the editor or publisher&039;s name and address on the envelope, and mail it.
