Gatorboard provides an inexpensive and modern feel for hanging photographs. The lack of matting, framing or glass provides clean lines for any interior decor. Use a professional framing store to mount your photograph properly and then follow these easy directions to prepare your photograph for hanging in your office, gallery or home.

Place the mounted photo on a soft surface free of debris or any hard objects. A clean carpeted surface or a work table with a thick towel will work well. Ensure that your photograph has been mounted using an acid free preservation board and specialized adhesives to prevent any damage to the image.
2Cut a 1/4-inch thick piece of wood to cover three-quarters of the space across the back of the photograph. This piece of wood will support the hanging devices, so be sure it is of a good quality wood and thick enough to hold several small screws.
3Mount the piece of wood about one quarter of the distance away from the top edge of the photograph using a strong all purpose super glue. Let the glue dry for several hours or longer depending on the directions and type of glue used.
4Take two small oval screw eyes, rated at approximately 5 lbs or less, and screw them into the wood about 1 inch in from each end of the wooden support piece. A multitude of eyelets exist for this type of mounting process and can be found at the local hardware or crafting store. Be sure the length of the screw portion does not exceed the thickness of the wooden support piece.
5Cut a piece of hanging wire about 1 foot longer than the width of the wooden support piece. Hanging wire can also be found where you purchase your eyelets and is often found in the mirror section of the hardware store.
6Thread the wire through the eyelets with approximately 6 inches extra on each end. Twist the excess wire around the main wire after looping through the eyelet to ensure the wire stays firmly in place.
7Mount your hanging hooks onto the wall where your photograph will hang. You can purchase these hooks in the same location as your eyelets and wire; a weight of 10 lbs or less will work well. Simply place your photograph on the hook and be sure that the image hangs at the proper height. If the image hangs too low, undo the wire, tighten any slack and secure the wire back in place.
