How to Make a Backdrop

How to Make a Backdrop

Making a backdrop for pictures or paintings is very easy. In fact, you don't have to "make" anything. You simply need to get creative.

Instructions

    1

Think about the subject and purpose of your picture.

    1. What is this picture for? Fun? Decoration? Romantic Gift? Picture of a product to sell on eBay? Professional reasons?

    2. What color, light, and setting will complement your subject.

    2

Go through your house. You can use bathroom towels (preferably without designs unless that suits your purpose), you can use bedsheets, large sheets of aluminum foil taped together, or simply a blank wall. If you want to, go outside and find a good backdrop.

Once you have chosen what to use as a backdrop attach it to two points at the right height, either with nails or thumb tacks in a wall, etc.

Find a complementary flat surface you can place the object on.

Adjust your lighting, and take several pictures (alternating backdrops if you need to).

*Here is an example of an easy backdrop - in this picture I held up a tablecloth behind this candle while my mother-in-law-to-be took the picture of the candle sitting on the kitchen counter with natural light hitting it from the kitchen window.

*Here is another example - I set this candle on top of a dark wood china cabinet with a white wall behind and an overhead light nearby. I thought the contrast of the colored candle, the dark wood, and the white wall was very nice.

If you can't find anything else you could always check the local fabric store or maybe cheaper you can check the Goodwill for sheets etc.

  1. You can make $20 for filling a 20 minute survey!

Guess what? This is exactly what large companies are paying for. They need to know what their customer needs and wants. So large companies pay millions of dollars per month to the average person. In return, the average person, like myself, participates in surveys and gives them their opinion.
