Picasa, sometimes mistakenly called Picasso, is a free picture editing and managing application. You can download it from Google for easy use. Picasa will find all of the picture files on your computer, arrange them by date and then place them in one folder. Once you have all of your pictures in Picasa, you can perform various types of editing functions. The following steps provide you with details for how to edit photos using Picasa.

Find the picture(s) you want to edit. Open Picasa and then locate the photo(s) you want to edit. The folders will be grouped by year and placed in different folders according to the various names you have associated with each. Double-click on the picture. Or, right-click on the image and then select View and Edit for editing options.
2Apply Basic Fixes to your photo. The picture will open with the Basic Fixes tab options. There are several ways to edit your pictures using the options: "Crop - changes the size of your photo, Straighten realigns a crooked picture, Redeye fixes any red eye in the photo, Im Feeling Lucky is an automatic color and lighting edit, Auto Contrast automatically edits the pictures exposure, Auto Color automatically removes color casts and Fill Light adjusts the photos lighting. Select the option you want (or try them all). Click Apply when necessary.
3Tweak your pictures. The next available editing tab is Tuning. Use to fine-tune your photos. The following options: Fill Light, Highlights, Shadows, Color Temperature also provide fixes for lighting and color. You can see the edits take place as you adjust the bar. Again you may have to click on the Apply button when necessary.
4Use the special effects. The final editing tab is the Effects. Select it to view all of the possible ways to make additional special effects edits to your pictures. All you have to do is click on the effect you desire. Make edits as desired.
