Photo Ideas for a Picnic

Photo Ideas for a Picnic

Devising a photoshoot with pizzazz means you'll have to be a little creative in your use of space. If you've chosen a landscape with a picnic theme, the options are plentiful in terms of what you can do and the final look of your shoot. With some variation -- even a little extravagance -- you're sure to find the perfect shot.

Tree Hugger

Make use of your natural environment for a picnic theme by staging a few nature shots outside a park or botanical garden. Clutch a tree by having your face close to the bark with arms stretched around the tree. Use photo cropping, a method used by zooming into the subject closely, to capture close-ups. An alternative tree scene is to sit with your back propped up against the tree, arms stretched overhead touching the tree behind you. If you dare, climb up on a sturdy tree limb and dangle arms and legs around.

Black & White

Take any of your photoscapes and transpose them in black-and-white images. Black-and-white photos always give photography a special look. Plan ahead to capture dynamic black-and-white images. Some of the best black-and-white photography require a minimal understanding of the compositional changes between the light and shadows but make final photos that amaze. Use the nooks and crannies of your park area where the light peeks through the shadows.

Nude, Not Rude

Wrap yourself in a red and white gingham print cloth, commonly known as the picnic blanket pattern and take some images using the fabric to clothe yourself. If you have a wonderfully private backyard or private grassy area, strip down for a nude photo using the fabric to cover your private parts and expose your back, chest and limbs in the photos. Create unique poses with the fabric, draping it in various ways in the scene.

Fun With Food

Set up a picnic area equipped with a basket and plates of fruit such as strawberries and watermelon and playfully roll around in the grass and on the blanket. Capture close-ups of the process of eating the fruits by focusing on the hands, mouth and fruits. Roll around on just the grass alone and take photos of you with a variety of emotions such as joy, anger and silly while holding the food items in your hands.
