Most businesses use a standard head shot with basic lighting for business cards or employee recognition walls. Businesses with many employees who need updated photos may not want to send its employees to a studio because of the extra travel expense and time away from the office. In these cases, travel to the place of business and set up a portable studio. To set the stage at the office for photos, find an out-of-the-way room with plain walls and have the employees come one-by-one.
Instructions
- 1
Find a room with plain walls. White walls work best, but if none exist, use lightly-colored walls.
2Set up a light stand on the camera's left and right of where you want to take the pictures. Connect an off-camera flash to each light stand.
3Insert an umbrella into each light stand according to the stand's directions. Adjust the umbrella centered to head level and pointing towards the wall.
4Put an 85mm lens on the camera, and connect the camera to the tripod.
5Set the timer on your camera for several seconds. Push the shutter release button. Stand in the same location as where the employees will stand for their portraits and wait for the camera to take a picture. Check the camera's LCD screen for lighting. Look for an even lighting without harsh shadows.
6If you get shadows, rearrange the umbrellas and do more test shots until you minimize the shadows.
7Bring in the employees one at a time and shoot the business photos.
