Photography is a creative art form with infinite possibilities available for its user, especially during this digital age. A photographer should be able to express unique angles and her point-of-view with the variety of creative projects available. These creative projects can be done by beginners or advanced photographers for experimental fun or as a more serious project.
ABC's and 123's
Take photos that represent the letters of the alphabet or numbers. You can make this project less difficult by finding subjects that begin with the letters "A, B, C..." such as an apple in one photo, a bed for the second photo and a cat for the third. Or, you can wander around finding objects and patterns that look like those letters in the sky, in nature or in buildings and architecture. These methods will help you to notice small details in the world around you that you might not have noticed otherwise. For numbers, you can either take photos of 1, 2, then 3 items, or again search for items in your surroundings that look like these numbers.
Photo-A-Day
Take one photo a day for a lengthy amount of time, such as a full year. This is definitely a long-term project, but one worth the outcome. Taking a photo a day makes it easier to recall what happened every day during the project, whereas most of the time, we have a hard time recalling what happened when and how things have changed. Try to capture as much of a day in one photo as you can, which can be challenging. This project will help you learn to pay better attention to setting up a shot, lighting and content. It will also be similar to a photo diary, which is a good way to recall the events of your everyday life.
Collage
Make collages out of photos you have taken, whether recently developed or older photographs. Arrange these photographs to create one, larger image. Photos can be used partially or in their entirety, cut into shapes and connected together by gluing or taping images to a larger sheet of paper, piece of cardboard or poster board. There ar image-editing programs available that create photo collages for you, but the old-fashioned hand-creation method offers more creative thinking.This a is a project which practices finding the center focus of your images and teaches you to use photos in a more abstract manner.
