How to Photograph Bangles

How to Photograph Bangles

Traditionally, bangles, an inflexible bracelet, were multicolored bracelets worn by Indian women. Often they were colorful. Modern bangles vary as much as the wearer's taste, and jewelers make bangles in all sizes, shapes and colors. Like other jewelry, bangles allow the wearer to show off her personality. Owners of bangles may want to show their jewelry off through photography. With a simple light tent, you can photograph your bangles in a way that makes it look like a professional shot them.

Instructions

    1

Set up the light tent according to the instructions. A basic light tent is cube-shaped and covered in translucent white fabric. The fabric diffuses any light pointed at it and provides even lighting without harsh shadows to anything placed inside the tent.

    2

Point a light source, such as a desk lamp, toward each side of the light tent. Move the light until it illuminates the entire side panel of the tent. Point a third light directly into the light tent.

    3

Attach a black fabric background to the far top of the tent. Run it to the near bottom. Most light tents include Velcro for attaching backgrounds. The background provides a seamless transition from the foreground to the background in the final photo.

    4

Place a high-gloss, black-acrylic platform into the center of the light tent. Arrange your bangles on top of the platform. The black acrylic creates a reflection that enhances the jewelry.

    5

Take a picture. Check the results on the LCD screen. The light tent should provide even lighting with no distracting shadows. If you notice dark shadows or uneven lighting, move the lights around until the shadows disappear.

    6

Shoot another photo. Practice the "fill the frame" technique. To use this technique, get close to the bangles and make sure they fill the viewfinder completely.
