Launch Microsoft Word. If the program isn't downloaded on your computer, use the comparable free downloads at OpenOffice.org for PC or NeoOffice.org for Mac. These similar, completely free programs use the Word format.
2Click the "File" drop down menu, and choose "New Works Template." Choose a template for your baby announcement. Additional templates are available for download (see Resource below).
3Add birth information to the template, including the baby's name, date and time of birth, height and weight. Include parents' names and sibling names, if you wish.
4Click the "Insert" drop down menu, choose "Picture > From File." Select a baby photo from your hard drive using the "Insert" window. You may place the photo within an appropriate space on the template by clicking and dragging the photo.
5Add clip art by clicking the "Insert" drop down menu, "Picture > Clip Art."
6Print the announcement onto white paper or card stock, for a nicer feel. Many templates are sized so that you can fit two or three announcements on one piece of card stock or paper.
7Add finishing details like baby-themed stickers or shadows and additional detailing with colored pencils.
