Low Light Photography Tips for a Canon 30D

Low Light Photography Tips for a Canon 30D

Mastering low-light photography is one of the hardest hurdles for amateur photographers to overcome in their quest to create spectacular pictures. You can get the best pictures in nighttime environments by planning as far ahead in advance as possible, and by using the manual settings on your camera instead of relying on the automatic settings.

Instructions

    1

If possible, scope out in advance the location where you will be taking the low-light photographs. You will get much better pictures if you have time to decide where you will be taking them and how you will be arranging the backdrops.

    2

Place your camera on a stable surface (or use an unfolding tripod) to make sure the images remain steady and free of blurring.

    3

Adjust the shutter speed on your camera so it opens and closes more rapidly. The 30D will take better low-light pictures with a higher shutter speed.

    4

Take more pictures than you think you will need, as some of them will likely turn out poorly in a low-light condition.

    5

Change the camera's focus settings so you can adjust them manually. The 30D does not focus well in dark settings.
