How to Use a Pentax K100

How to Use a Pentax K100

The Pentax K100 is an entry level camera that introduces a novice photographer to the art and function of the various lenses of a camera. At the same time, this model offers the reassurance of the auto focus feature, shake reduction stabilizer, and many other features. Learning how to use a Pentax K100 is a snap, and when you follow these simple steps, you are well on your way to taking beautiful pictures.

Instructions

    1

Replace the AA batteries currently in the camera. Even if you did not take a lot of pictures the last time you used your Pentax, these batteries are notorious for losing their charge quickly, and you do not want to be caught with a failing flash.

    2

Insert a properly formatted SD memory card into the slot. This device will store the pictures you intend to take.

    3

Locate the auto pict option on the top selector. Choose this option to take the guesswork out of the various capturing modes this model offers.

    4

Pick up the lens and gently clean it with a soft cloth. Attach it to the body mount by aligning it with the marks on the cover and slowly turning it in a clockwise direction. You will hear a faint snap when it properly attaches.

    5

Double check that the lever on the side of the lens is set to autofocus (AF); you may have to select this option if you have not done so in the past.

    6

Turn on the camera. You are now ready to take pictures with your Pentax K100.

    7

Find an object you wish to photograph. Place your eye against the viewfinder and center the object in the frame provided.

    8

Depress the shutter button, but do not do so completely. Instead, stop as soon as you notice the autofocus changing the object display in the viewfinder. You may also notice that the flash begins charging up. Since you automated these processes, the Pentax K100 is taking all the steps necessary to get you the best possible shot.

    9

Press down on the shutter button completely if you are happy with what you see in your viewfinder. You will hear a little click which indicates that the photo has been taken.
