Photographing someone who is wearing glasses can seem challenging because in so many pictures, the lenses of the glasses create a glare. That glare can turn a great photograph into a mediocre photo at best, or can completely ruin the photo at worst. Many people who wear glasses don't like to have their photographs taken, complaining that they "don't take good photographs" simply because they're so used to seeing their faces distorted by glare when they see their pictures. With just a little bit of planning before taking the photograph, you can take a picture of someone wearing glasses and avoid the glare and make the person you are photographing happy with their picture.

Turn off your camera's setting to reduce red eye, if your camera has this option. The red eye reduction setting causes the camera to produce a burst of light in addition to the initial "flash" for lighting. This second burst of light can create a glasses' glare, even when the original flash did not.
2Ask the subject of your photograph to turn slightly to one side. This will mean that the lenses of the glasses aren't directly in the path of the camera's flash, which will go a long way in preventing glare in the photograph.
3Take advantage of lighting. If you are in full light and don't have to use a flash, don't use it. It is the camera's flash that most frequently creates glare on glasses. If you must use the flash, put as much distance as possible between the camera and the subject of the photograph. This can be accomplished in many instances by using the camera's zoom.
4Position the subject of the photograph so that natural lighting is behind or to the side. Avoid taking a photograph where natural lighting, such as the sun or a window, is behind you. This light will reflect off the subject's lenses and create glare.
5Position yourself a bit to the side of the person you are photographing. In addition to helping reduce the possibility of glare, this will also ensure that you ---- the photographer ---- aren't reflected in your subject's lenses for the photograph.
