How to Upload Multiple Photos From an SD Card

How to Upload Multiple Photos From an SD Card

Uploading multiple photos from an SD card is straightforward and simple when using your card reader and a computer. A basic drag-and-drop method will transfer small numbers of images at an efficient rate. If you will be transferring large quantities of image files or wish to pursue photography in an amateur or professional capacity, you may want to invest in a cataloging program. Such a program will give you more control over image-importing functions and will keep your images organized.

Instructions

    1

Attach the card reader to your computer using the USB connection that fits your card reader. A card reader is a fast and efficient way for transferring photos from any media storage card onto your computer.

    2

Insert the SD card into the card reader and wait for the computer to recognize the card. Most computers will read the storage card as an external hard drive, located in the computer drive or disc section of your operating system.

    3

Double-click on the icon for your card reader. This will vary based on your computer and disc, but most computers will name the drive according to the digital camera that produced the files on the SD.

    4

Open the file folder that is the final destination for the image files. Adjust the folder window to take up only a small portion of your monitor space.

    5

Click to select the folder containing your images and place it next to the destination folder on your desktop. Highlight the images you want to upload to your computer. Hold the "Control" button while clicking the mouse on the selected files to highlight multiple files. If you are unsure of the files you want to transfer, click the mouse once on the file name and a thumbnail should appear.

    6

Hold the mouse button down over any of the highlighted images and drag the files to the new destination folder. Allow the computer to make the transfer, as multiple larger-image files may take a few minutes to transfer.

    7

Double-check that the images transferred properly to the destination folder before removing the SD card from the card reader.
