How to Change the Resolution When Editing in Picnik Pro

How to Change the Resolution When Editing in Picnik Pro

Picnik is an online application that allows users to edit their photos, much like a simplified version of Photoshop. After uploading your picture to the site, you can crop it, change the color, remove red-eye and change its size. Changing its size will also change the picture's resolution. Making it larger will lower the picture's resolution (less dots per inch), while making it smaller will increase the resolution (more dots per inch). The higher the resolution is, the clearer your picture will look.

Instructions

    1

    Log on to Picnik.com.

    2

Click on the "Upload a Photo" icon. Windows Explorer will automatically open. Browse through your pictures to find the one you want to edit. Double-click it to upload it into Picnik. It should be uploaded to the Picnik website virtually instantaneously.

    3

Click the "Edit" tab followed by the "Resize" button. A "Resize" toolbar will appear at the top of the screen.

    4

Check the box that says "Keep Proportions." This will ensure that your picture will have the same proportionate dimensions, thus avoiding a picture that becomes too slim or too wide.

    5

Enter a number into the left-hand "New Dimensions" box. Entering a smaller number will increase your picture's resolution, while entering a larger number will decrease it. Click "OK" when you're satisfied with your picture's size and resolution.

    6

Click the "Save & Share" tab. Name your picture, and then choose which format to save it in.

    7

Click "Save Photo" to save your newly edited picture to your computer. Name the file, choose a destination folder (the default destination is your "Pictures" folder) and then click "Save" in the Explorer window. Your newly edited photo should now be saved to your computer.
